TRADITIONAL JAPANESE MARTIAL ART & WEAPONS TRAINING
Expand Your Horizons
Aikido is a non-competitive Japanese martial art which was developed early in the 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969). In Japanese , Aikido means "the way of harmony with the force and principle of nature". Aikido is derived from Japan's traditional Budo (the way of martial arts), yet goes beyond the realm of Budo; it is a path where martial arts are used as a way of spiritual growth.
Through regular practice Aikido can be used as a means of self defence and as a way to enhance general health, flexiblity and confidence.

WEAPONS TRAINING
JYO
BOKKEN
IAIDO
Weapons training is an important aspect of Aikido practice as many of the movements and principles contained within Aikido body art derive from Japanese weapons work.
We currently study the use of the bokken (wooden sword) and jyo (wooden staff).
We also offer classes in Iaido, which involves learning to use the Japanese sword (Katana)
